sakha (Business)

We have a set of constraints that we follow when building these businesses:

• WhatsApp/Signal. We use WhatsApp/Signal as the primary communication tool.
• Github. We use Github for all code, documentation and issues.
• Google Workspace. We use Google Drive for all documents and spreadsheets.
• AWS. We use AWS for all cloud infrastructure.
• Cloudflare. We use Cloudflare for all DNS and CDN.

Ventures are built using a decentralized team. We do this by standardizing the technology stack on a set of technologies that are common across all the ventures and using a process that allows us to quickly build and iterate. Each sakha is run by a small team of sevakas of less than 5 people.

I build businesses within the sanghs that have the following characteristics:

• Serve People. Build things that help better the world.
• Domain Expertise. Build ventures with others who can bring in their expertise.
• Low Cost. Use technology and automation to drive down cost across every part of the business.

Other than this each sakha has its own unique characteristics based on the sangh it is a part of.

Infra

Our ventures are built with Jugaad and decentralization as the primary driving force: be as cheap as possible and build as fast as possible. We address the customer needs and iterate what we need from there. Our teams are loosely coupled partnerships of vendors and contractors coordinated on WhatsApp and Github.

• Github. We run the entire operation through Github. Running the venture within a monorepo.
  • Issues. All tasks are tracked in Github issues.
  • Actions. All automation is run through Github actions.
  • Code. All code is stored in Github.
